More comic news, this time for Buffy, a Willow one-shot has been announced which will be drawn by Karl Moline (the artist responsible for Fray) and co-written by Joss Whedon.

30 May 2009: Vertigo Entertainment in Talks for Buffy Movie

Many of you will have probably seen the news circulating the internet of a possible new Buffy movie in the works. Vertigo Entertainment and Fran Rubel Kuzui, who directed and financed the original Buffy movie and had executive producer status on the TV series, are in talks to bring back the franchise to the big screen in what is being labelled a 'relauch' similar to the recent Bond, Batman and Star Trek films.

However, there are no current plans to involve Joss Whedon and the film would not be able to include the characters created for the TV series (i.e. Xander, Willow et al) as Fox and not Kuzui hold the rights to those.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly's Ausiello, Joss Whedon had this to say about the situation:

"I hope it's cool"

Make of that what you will.

Needless to say, should the new movie go ahead without Joss being involved, it won't be included in Whedon's World.

15 March 2009: Figurine Collection Magazine

Forbidden Planet are releasing a new Buffy and Angel figurine partworks collection. Each issue will feature a a 20 page magazine and a figurine. The first issue will feature Buffy Summers herself and is out on 19th March 2009. You can pre-order your copy at www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk.
