Breaking News: GLEEK JOSS WHEDON TALKS ABOUT DIRECTING NEXT WEEK'S 'GLEE'

THE SKINNY: DOLLHOUSE may have been cancelled this season by Fox, but creator, writer, director and uber-geek, Joss Whedon is still part of the Fox family as he recently helmed next week's episode of GLEE dubbed "Dream On" and guest-starring his DR. HORRIBLE muse Neil Patrick Harris.
Speaking to reporters this morning, here's a taste of Whedon had to say:
ON DIRECTING SOMEONE ELSE'S SHOW...
"I've done it once before with THE OFFICE and it helps if the show is wondeful - it takes some of the pressure off," he says. "It's a little tricky. You're living in someone else's house and fulfilling their needs... This is their world and I feel privileged to walk in it, but I don't want to walk over it."
WORKING WITH NEIL PATRICK HARRIS AGAIN...
"I am so tired of that guy, why do they make me continue to direct that guy," he says sarcastically. "He's a wondeful actor and a great friend... I feel l ike he's one of those people who expresses the way, I would like to express myself. He's a muse and he's friends with [GLEE star] [Matt [Morrison]. So the rivalry and affection between them, just informed the thing so much. We had such a good time. He came in, the day after the Oscars and fit this into schedule."
ON THE SHOWS ORIGINALITY...
"GLEE is different from anything else period," says Whedon. "Every show is different. I would just say that the enormous amount of work everyone is doing at all times on the show - it;s not an easy show to make. The whole cast works so hard, and they're busy working on every episode."
DIRECTING THE BUFFY MUSICAL EPISODE VS. GLEE...
"Doing BUFFY and doing DR. HORRIBLE were great prep for doing something like this," he says. "It's different. Obviously knowing a little bit of the reality in a days work of shooting a musical and shooting a regular scene - it's very useful. It's the kind of thing I would like to spend a lot more time doing. I love doing musicals, deeply and dearly - it's a return to home, but a very welcoming one."
GLEE's "Dream On" episode airs next Tuesday night (May 18, 2010) at 9:00 pm PT.
