Dollhouse's Dr. Saunders has one more big surprise in store

Amy Acker

Still watching Fox's Dollhouse? We've got big spoilers for the last two episodes involving Amy Acker's Dr. Claire Saunders/Whiskey!

Last Friday's episode of Joss Whedon's canceled series, "Getting Closer," revealed that Boyd Langton (Harry Lennix) is the head of the nefarious Rossum Corp. (or is he?) and that Dr. Saunders (Acker) has been romantically involved with Langton for months, since she disappeared. Is she involved with Rossum as well?

Acker confirmed that she filmed one more appearance for the show.

'There's one more, but it's very different than that one," Acker said in a group interview earlier this week in Pasadena, Calif., where she was promoting her new ABC series, Happy Town.

Fans have speculated that perhaps Saunders is the other head of Rossum, but Acker said the truth is even more surprising. "There will be a connection, but it's not Claire," Acker said. "Does that make sense? Is that giving too much away? Yeah, I definitely have something to do with Rossum in the next one."

When she began working on Dollhouse's first season, Acker said that she had no idea what was in store for her character. Certainly appearing in only a few episodes the second season, she's been as surprised as audiences by the twists and turns of the plot.

"When the whole thing started, I had been begging Joss since I heard he was doing it," Acker said. "We'd be hanging out, and I'd be like, 'I wish I could be on your show.' It seemed like the day before they started shooting he was like, 'Actually, there's this part. She was supposed to be a 55-year-old woman, and I'm thinking maybe that you should do it.' I was like, 'Really? OK, great, I'll be there.' So I didn't know if it was just going to be on the pilot or anything. I had no idea that I was going to end up being a doll, and all of this stuff unfolded. Then, of course, you hear about different stuff. There were talks. Like one time, he's like, 'Maybe you're actually Caroline,' and I was like, 'Oh, that would be awesome.' But that didn't happen."

The final two episodes of Dollhouse - "The Hollow Men" and "Epitaph Two: Return" - will air this Friday and next at 8 p.m ET/PT on Fox.
